In a 50 year career working “in the lab” and in the mind on complex design and development I knew my best work could Only be done in a certain Zone of Focus where “Time went away” ( unless keeping track was part of the work) and the “Next important step” did not have to be planned or remembered - it just “came to mind” just when needed.
